Solo victory for Priska Doppmann
23 July, 2008 – Priska Doppmann (SUI) from Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team won in a solo arrival the second stage (“Rund um Gera”) in the International “Thüringen Rundfahrt”. Doppmann attacked about 18 km ahead of the finish and claimed victory with at the end an advantage of 17 seconds to Angela Hennig. The third place took the Norwegian Anita Valen de Vries. With that victory, Priska Doppmann is now in the lead of the overall ranking of the competition series.
"I knew, that I wouldn't have any chance against the good sprinters in the field," said Priska Doppmann, "so I had to take my chance with a solo flight. When they hesitated in the field, I gave gas. Up until nearly the finish, I thought, if they work together, they would get me. But today my tactic worked out."
As well among the top ten finished Sarah Düster. And with that good results today, the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team climbed up in the overall team ranking to the first place. The 3rd stage “Rund um Greiz” will be tomorrow. More information: http://www.thueringenrundfahrt-frauen.de
