Great success for the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team
22 June, 2008 – The Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team convinced at the Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale 2008, the “Tour de France” in Women’s cycling. On hat last stage of the 6-days-competition the 33-year-old Christiane Soeder (AUT) claimed stage victory on the 83,9 km race from Guillestre (FRA) to Sestriere (ITA). On second place finished Nicole Cooke (GBR) with a gap of 29 seconds to Soeder. Jolanta Polikeviciute took the third place and Karin Thürig edged out of the podium, both with 34 seconds behind Soeder.
In the overall ranking, the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team can celebrate a double success. Soeder won the Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale 2008, 12 seconds (time + bonifications) ahead of Karin Thürig, who was racing an excellent time trial competition and as well a showed a great shape in the French mountains. The third place took Nicole Cooke.
For Soeder, it was the first overall victory in the Grande Boucle Feminine Internationale and her second success in a tour in this year after winning the Geelong Tour in Australia.
The Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team, that won 2 stage victories and in addition three podium places during the 6-days-competition, domintated as well the overall team ranking with a lead of over 30 min ahead of the Chirio Forno D’Asolo Team.
