Thürig defends her lead – Soeder third at the 6th stage
21 June, 2008 – Karin Thürig from Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team defended on the second last stage of the Grande Boucle Feminine Internationale with her today’s 6th place the lead in the overall ranking. Christiane Soeder took (AUT) the third place in the today’s 103 km long stage through the French Alps while Rasa Polikeviciute (LTU) claimed victory in a solo arrival 27 seconds ahead of Diane Ziliute (LTU), who finished second.
The Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team controlled the race and protected the yellow jersey of Karin Thürig with a very good team work. Christiane Soeder is still second in the overall ranking with 32 seconds behind Thürig and on third position is Nicole Cooke, 2.33min behind the leader. The team ranking is clearly led by the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team with 14.37min.
The tomorrow’s last stage will be again tough. Over the 84 km, the riders have to climb up to the Col D’Izoard, the Col de Montgenevre and at the end the last steep uphill of the Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale 2008 to the finish in Sestriere (ITA).
